We departed at 6:30 AM under clear skies and 20 mph SE winds.
It was a long day of it. Winds were in our face all day. We did have moments of great sailing. I was amazed how little one had to touch the wheel once the boat found its tack. Unfortunately, because of the wind, we were sailing much of the day in the wrong direction.
We did make it to Dauphin Island, but overshot the Dauphin Island Marina by 10 miles. We finally settled in next to a research vessel and the Coast Guard station around 8:00 PM. A very, very long day of it.
